John at Motionworks is a legend in the After Effects community. John has been using After Effects more or less since it was created and has generously shared his knowledge through his excellent tutorials for a number of years. Recently he has been challenging other After Effects users on his website to try and create interesting looking compositions in After Effects, only using a couple of effects and a solid layer. After Effects is such an overwhelming toolbox of effects, that sometimes having constraints can really fire up your creativity.
In the last experiment (no.7), the challenge was to just use CC Toner & Turbulent Noise. After 30 mins of experimenting, I managed to come up with an interesting looking Nebula/Ocean style effect. I thought I’d share it on here as an After Effects preset, you can download it below.
