There’s been a lot of controversy over Adobe’s decision to stop us buying their software and instead just leasing it to us through a Creative Cloud subscription. I personally think we should have the option of whether we want to buy or lease their software, but it looks like Adobe are moving forward with Creative Cloud whether we like it or not.
The main concern people seem to have with the Creative Cloud is that if they cancel their subscription, they no longer have the software to edit and open their Adobe projects. This is a valid concern and there is only one real solution currently, which is to have a copy of CS6 installed. Adobe have said that they will provide the option of being able to save projects in Creative Cloud applications to a CS6 version. This means that even if you cancel your Creative Cloud subscription you can still open and edit your files using a copy of CS6 – which you own.
