VFX Deal of the Week – Trapcode Mir – 10% Off
Trapcode Mir creates quick-rendering 3D shapes that are built on
the power of OpenGL just like Element 3D, previewing your effect
instantly so you can keep on designing. You’ll play with a simple
polygon mesh that is packed with 3D features, like fractal noise
for distortion, texture mapping, repeating geometry, and After
Effects light integration.
Mir generates smoothly shaded objects or flowing organic elements,
abstract landscapes and nebula structures – all beautifully
animated with light and depth.
Trapcode Mir is only $99 and you can get an extra 10% off here.
The Pixel Lab Element 3D Music Model Pack
If you’re an Element 3D user, sourcing Element 3D ready models can
be a bit of a challenge. That’s why this latest Element 3D Model
Pack from The Pixel Lab is a most welcome addition.
The Pixel Lab “Music Pack” is a collection of 21 music related 3D
models that have been modeled and textured especially for Element
3D. Models include Cassette Tapes, Upright Piano, Distortion
Pedal, Vinyl Record Player, Drum Kit, Two Electric Guitars,
Microphone plus many more.
Some of these models are worth $30 on their own, so $38 for over 20 3D models is fantastic value.

20 Top Tips for CG Freelancers
3D Artist magazine recently asked several industry experts their
top tips for VFX and motion graphics freelancers. A couple of my
favourites were:-
“Try to be unique. Find your own style. Do different things, rather
than the usual stuff. Even if you’re not particularly great at what
you do, having something that is unique and noticeable is more
valuable than most technical skills.”
– Andrew Hickinbottom
“Selling your work can be difficult. Don’t be afraid to email or
contact places you might not think would necessarily be where you
would find work. TV studios, advertising agencies or printers, for
example, are all places you could try.”
– Neil Maccormack
