Space Shuttle element 3d model

Ever wanted to create your own Space Scene using Element 3D?
I know I wanted to, but the amount of time it would take to model all the assets put me off.

Then luckily, through an unrelated link I dropped onto the NASA.gov website and found that they had a large collection of space related 3D models that could be downloaded for free. You can check them out here.

I got busy downloading a Space Shuttle model only to find that it was in 3ds format and the related textures were bitmap. Both of these formats are incompatible with Element 3D so some conversion was going to be needed.

I decided to use Blender as it allowed the import of 3ds files and the export to obj format, which can be used by Element 3D. I then used Photoshop to convert the .bmp Shuttle textures to .png format for use in Element 3D. From there it was just a case of setting the model up in Element 3D and assigning the materials.

To save you time I created an Element 3D model preset of the SpaceShuttle, so that you can drop it straight into your project, without the hassle of conversion and assigning materials. You can download the Space Shuttle model here.

Once downloaded, unzip it and add it to your Element 3D model folder like you did the Shatter Pack. Please read the NASA terms and conditions before using the models in any commercial work, you can read them here.
