Ever wanted to make your digital imagery look more like traditional media such as oil on canvas?
Well Peder Norrby the genius behind Trapcode Particular and the Trapcode Suite of products has created a really elegant solution using Trapcode Particular in After Effects.
While he was experimenting with fractal field visualisations he was able to create what he describes as a “painterly effect” that captures the feel and texture of oil on canvas. The effect involves creating a large and dense grid emitter and emitting aux particles. In order to get a more interesting composition he used a photo as a source texture for the emitter. No external effects were used to create the effect apart from Trapcode Particular. However, by using the Sharpen and Color Emboss effect in After Effects you can enhance the realism of the effect.
Peder has kindly made the After Effects file available for download over at his blog – trapcode.com
