So the new version of After Effects has finally been released. After Effects CC comes with a free version of Cinema 4D and a whole host of other cool features. However, this latest version of After Effects comes with a few key differences that you really should be aware of…
After Effects CC – Now Only For Rent, Not For Sale.
One big change from previous versions of After Effects is that there is no longer an option to purchase it. You can only get the latest version via a Creative Cloud subscription, although you can still purchase After Effects CS6, it just won’t be updated with the new features. As someone who previously purchased the boxed version of the Adobe Creative Suite, I can understand why some people might be upset by having to switch to the Creative Cloud subscription model.
After Effects CC & Creative Cloud. What Are The Benefits?
It’s a shame that Adobe can’t provide an option to people that want to purchase the latest version of After Effects, but switching to the Creative Cloud does have a number of advantages:
* You will always have the most up-to-date version of After Effects.
* You will get the latest new features for After Effects as soon as they are released and without any upgrade fees. Adobe has said they will be adding new features to After Effects much more frequently now with the CC version. With the boxed version, updates were limited to every 18 months or so.
* Download and use any Adobe professional creative tool, including Adobe Muse,TM Lightroom, Edge Tools & Services, and more. If you’ve ever wanted to branch out and create websites, apps, video, and more, now you can.
* Behance integration. You can publish your customized portfolio on your own URL and plug into the world’s largest creative community to get inspired, get feedback, and find new opportunities.
* Creative Cloud comes with 20GB of free online storage. This means you can keep your entire creative world in sync – files, feedback from team members, fonts, settings, and updates.
* Unlike the boxed version you can install Windows and Mac versions of After Effects on two computers. This is useful if you have a Windows computer at work and a Mac at home.
* Lower up front cost. To purchase the Adobe Master Collection costs $2,599.00. Creative Cloud offers more features and benefits and only costs $49.99 per month.
What Offers Are Available To Current After Effects Users?
If you’re a previous Adobe customer you can make big savings (40% off) on a Creative Cloud membership. There’s also a separate special deal for current CS6 customers, who want to move to Creative Cloud.
There is also a significant discount if you’re looking at buying multiple licenses for teams. Adobe Creative Suite 3, 4, 5, or 6 customers can join Creative Cloud for teams and save US$30 per month for the first year of membership (normally US$69.99 per month).
